MANILA, Philippines – Piolo Pascual, Miguel Escueta and the comedic duo, Moymoy Palaboy, are hitting it big in the US, according to separate reports.
Pascual has proved quite a hit in the US concert circuit, said abscbnnews.com. The last leg of the heartthrob's tour, held at the historic 110-year-old Woolsey Hall Theater of Yale University, was packed with a good number of Pinoys eager for a glimpse of the singer-actor.
Filipinos who came to watch the show were one in expressing their joy in seeing Pascual perform.
“We had so much fun. It was worth it,” says Jenny Capa, a Pascual die-hard fan who came all the way from New Jersey.
Another Filipino, Chris Lapinig, was amazed at the number of Filipinos who came to watch the Yale gig.
“This is the most Filipinos I’ve ever seen on this campus, so it’s a really great thing to see,” he says.
The same report announced that Pascual will also be doing an all-English film to be shot around New York and Los Angeles in April.
In an interview for the article, Pascual kept mum on the details concerning the yet to be titled movie but intimated that it will be very different from past efforts.
“It’s not your typical romantic-comedy type of film with [just one] leading lady,” he asserts.
Meanwhile, Moymoy Palaboy is getting much buzz from Mexican fanatics.
According to a report on gmanewsonline, Mexico’s interest on the duo was ignited after their infamous YouTube videos were spoofed by the Mexican show “Benga la Alegria.”
Ronald Obeso, one half of the partnership verified this in an interview with “In the Limelight.”
“Last year pa ‘yan,” says he. “Hanggang ngayon nag-i-spoof pa rin sila.”
Due to the same, Obeso intimated that Mexican celebrity Thalia, has been tweeting about them.
“Eh natutuwa siya sa amin. Gusto raw kami makita. Akala siguro cartoons,” he says.
Obeso admitted they have received a number of offers to do a concert in Mexico. He intimated that they had long planned to acquiesce to the numerous request except that they are yet to fulfill their commitments with their home network, GMA-7.
“Syempre gusto rin naming makapunta doon,” he says. “Gusto rin naming ma-meet si Thalia.”
“In the Limelight” also reported that another Pinoy, Miguel Escueta, has gained entry in the US music market with the latter’s songs slated to be heard on American TV shows and in films.
Escueta himself affirmed this in the interview with the showbiz talk show, saying that his label MCA Music got his songs signed for inclusion in the soundtrack of hit American TV shows “Gossip Girl,” “Smallville” and “Vampire Diaries.”
